How to Use GMail Filters and Labels to Become a Domainer Pro

Creating labels and filters in GMail can be an easy way to save time and hassle managing a hectic inbox.  We simply don’t want to deal with emails coming in daily even though that information can be valuable.

Can we transform a simple GMail account into the workings of a domainer pro?

Sometimes you may feel like you need to quickly scan through a newsletter so that you can clean out your inbox for the day, when you would rather read it completely at a more convenient time.  This method may be a fix to that problem and save you time and frustration later.

GMail Filters can store all your newsletters and information under a common easy-to-search and find label.

GMail Labels also allow you to manage alot more information than you would usually be comfortable taking in.

2 Step Process for Filtering and Labeling Newsletters

Step 1. After you subscribe and begin receiving newsletters, immediately create a label and filter for each one. See Newsletter Suggestions below.

Select Filter

Step 2. Choose display features like skipping the inbox (handy for those daily newsletters) or placing a star icon. Then of course you create your label name. See Label Suggestions below.

Label It

A Label For Everything and Everything in It’s Label

Here are some Label suggestions to help keep all the various aspects of the domain business in order.

  • Available Domains
  • Domains For Sale
  • Domain Publications
  • Blog Newsletters
  • Affiliate Sales
  • Domain Tools Alerts
  • Domain Registration
  • Domain Renewals

You can create more detailed labels for virtually any type of email you will be receiving regularly.  Perhaps a label for your clients, advertisers, domain deals, payments sent, Registrant Alerts, Twitter followers, Google Alerts, etc.

Bonus Label Makeover Treatment

You can style your various labels so that you can easily recognize your favorite newsletters and emails as they arrive.

Now you’ve got a constant eye on the domain industry that you can watch at your own pace!

There are plenty more blogs which may offer email newsletters.  Please feel free to comment and suggest more resources that can be delivered through email. I will only add to the list if they are well established and provide some sort of value.

Poll: Do You Have a Domain Portfolio Website? How One Can Help You Build Business & Customers

Creating a unique website to display your domain names for sale is a great idea.  A domain portfolio website can give you good exposure and potentially loyal customers.  Portfolios today can also be interactive and feature rich too!

domain-portfolios

I know of several domainers who have live portfolios accompanying their blogs and services, and still others who prefer to do things privately through email and newsletters.  Both of those methods can be a powerful and personal way of selling domains.

Some, like myself, like to do a little bit of everything by listing domain names in popular aftermarkets like Sedo or Afternic in addition to posting sales on domain forums, email newsletters, domain marketplaces, and even Twitter.

So what about you? Please respond in our poll…

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

I have found my best sales results come from direct sales to people visiting my domain portfolio pages. You can place your portfolio website address in email and forum signatures to spread the word to your associates, friends and social networking contacts.

Having your own portfolio website can open up new avenues for building contacts and reaching potential end users.

My personal domain portfolio has evolved over the years.  Initially it was placed as a simple page addition on my personal blog which proved hard to update, then I customized various portfolio scripts to my liking, but finally opted to build a custom site using WordPress.

Some of my domain portfolio is now found at AQDN.com – Affordable Quality Domain Names. I have not had a chance to update in awhile (I have been buying names more than reselling lately). However, be on the lookout for some fresh names and new features at my portfolio soon.  You can also follow @AQDN on Twitter.

I would suggest you keep things simple by using an open source software like WordPress.  While it is primarily a blogging CMS, there are features built in for keywords, categories, posts and pages that are perfect for building out a domain portfolio.

Do solid domain research and a little marketing know how to get your portfolio website off on the right foot.

If you have any questions, would like any tips or suggestions on where to get started building your own domain portfolio website, please leave a comment below.  I may do a guide on building a custom WordPress site if there is any interest.

Facebook Preparing to Become the Next Big Online Marketplace

Giant social network Facebook is preparing to test a new payments system, according to BusinessInsider today.  A company rep says this proposed system will allow the use of Facebook credits to purchase goods and services through third-party applications.

“They’re earning WHAT!?”

facebook

They seem to have gotten excited about the idea after hearing that Facebook games-maker Zynga will sell over $100 million in virtual goods (mainly poker chips I suspect, but nonetheless astounding).

Facebook will naturally take a cut of each transaction, which will likely attempt to compete with online payments leader PayPal.

This is predicted to be an excellent way for Facebook to earn revenue while creating a new global marketplace as a service to users.

Thousands of people are already taking advantage of the explosive growth and reach of Facebook to do business online.

Domain Industry on Facebook

Our relatively small domain industry has a pretty strong presence on social networks.  We seem to realize the value of networking with other professionals and marketing to targeted customers.

DotSauce has a fan page growing steadily and there are thousands of other domainers on Facebook and nearly as many domainers on Twitter.

Last year I created the Facebook Domain Name Marketplace which continues to be a daily hub for domain sales within Facebook.

domainer-app

I’ve also beta tested the “Domainer” application (shown above) created by Randy Dryburgh.  This is quite an advanced domain name marketplace application that would be perfect with solid payment processing.  I have been waiting for this app to get the attention it deserves for some time and may not have to wait much longer!

Business Innovations in Social Networking

Launching this payments system will be a monumental task for Facebook and to be so close to testing is quite a pleasant surprise.

This will be an excellent opportunity for many industries to expand business and reach potentially millions.

I think Twitter could do this aswell,  short classified ads are simple and effective and status updates are already earning people money.

Poll: Would you go to T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Amsterdam if the Conference Was FREE?

The TRAFFIC ccTLDs Conference will be held in Amsterdam during June 1st through June 4th. That is just 3 weeks away!

Check out the loaded conference schedule which features some great sessions and a keynote by Dr. Kevin Ham!

I won a free all inclusive conference pass from Rick Latona for referring the most members to his new ccTLDs.com forum. (So, if you need to get the word out about domain related business you know who to go to!)

HOWEVER, I am a bit of slacker and was not able to get my passport in order to be able to attend the conference.

Take My Place, Vote & Comment Below!

I know this is going to be an excellent gathering of top domainers from around the world and I don’t want that experience to go to waste.  Rick has stated that I can transfer my free conference pass to someone else.

Only vote “YES!” if you can make travel arrangements (and have your passport in order) to attend the TRAFFIC conference on June 1st, then leave a comment stating your interest! This is so I can email you if chosen.

Just a simple “I would go!” comment will suffice.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

I will then pick a winner from those who posted a comment at the end of the week on Friday May 15th, that should give the winner a little over two weeks notice to prepare.

Note, this is a $1,495 value!

Please share this post if you know someone who would be interested!

$1 Dollar Domains Forum Marketplace Launches

Ross Conte of popular domain blog YGrab has launched 1DollarNames today.  A unique forum marketplace featuring, you guessed it, $1 domain name reserve sales.

1dollarnames

This means that each domain name listed for sale on 1DollarNames.com will sell if a $1 offer is made.

That is, of course, a risk that a domain seller has to take similiarly to the wildly popular Bido.com daily live auctions.

This could mean that only quality domain names will begin to appear soon on 1DollarNames.  I may give it a try myself with a domain that is obviously worth much more than $1, so be on the lookout!

You can also follow @1DollarNames on Twitter for auction updates and while you’re at it, check out @DNMarket also.

HummingBird Discount Coupon Code: Get 15% Off the Most Powerful Twitter Tool

Just a few weeks ago I wrote about my experience using the powerful Hummingbird Twitter automation software and how it allowed me to get over 5000 targeted followers on Twitter. Since writing that review I have almost doubled that number and am nearly at 10,000 followers.

Those numbers are just for one account!  I have several other online businesses with Twitter accounts which have many thousands of targeted followers each, all thanks to this powerful software.

Continue reading below for a great Hummingbird discount code and how you can easily achieve this success on Twitter.

What Does Hummingbird Do?

Hundreds of people are using Hummingbird to take Twitter to the next level.

This relatively simple PC software allows you to login to as many Twitter accounts as you like, search for people in your area of interest and then automatically follow people while you take a nap, walk your dog or work on something else!

Once you have followed all the people you can handle, wait awhile for those people to follow you back and then clean up your list by automatically unfollowing those people who didn’t seem interested.

This process would otherwise take hours of your valuable time each day!

Benefits of Massive Followers

  • My website traffic has increased dramatically.
  • I have built new relationships with individuals and businesses.
  • I have introduced numerous people to my industry.
  • Able to drive traffic to any resource, product or blog at any time.
  • I get tons of Re-Tweets.
  • Listed high in Twitter directories.
  • I launched a website and gained hundreds of sign ups.

…and the list goes on!  There is no reason you shouldn’t pursue more followers on Twitter.

HummingBird Discount Code

The Hummingbird software can now be purchased for a very reasonable $167 using the promotional Hummingbird coupon code RECESSION when checking out.

That’s a big 15% discount on an already invaluable product.

Many people have told me (and I agree) that Hummingbird can pay for itself in just the first week. I highly recommend you give it a try and start leveraging the awesome power of the Twitter crowd!
